I thought Chris Hansen's article on Otis Davis was timely and very well done. Mr. Davis was a true track superstar and deserves to be memorialized in the new stadium. However, I would like to mention that he was not the first Oregon athlete to win an Olympic gold medal. That honor goes to Carolyn Wood (Class of 1967), who won a gold medal as part of the 1960 swimming 4x100-meter free relay a week before Mr. Davis won the 400 meters in track.
