SB Nation Reacts: Don’t forget about Dak Prescott - Field Gulls

Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Each week, we send out questions to the most plugged-in Seattle Seahawks fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to join Reacts.

Remember the 2016 NFL Draft? Do you take Jared Goff or Carson Wentz? Well the Los Angeles Rams selected Jared Goff with the first overall pick. He was followed by Carson Wentz, picked by the Philadelphia Eagles. Then in Day 3, the Dallas Cowboys selected Dak Prescott in the fourth round, the eighth quarterback taken. Three seasons later, all three were coming off of playoff seasons and had reached the Pro Bowl. Wentz had won a Super Bowl with the Eagles, albeit with Nick Foles leading the way from late December through the championship.

Now, Wentz and Goff are on new teams while Prescott is a few weeks away from becoming an unrestricted agent unless the Cowboys give him a new contract. Nevertheless it’s obvious which was the best QB of this trio and indeed the entire draft.

According to the most recent SB Nation Reacts survey, fans around the country expect Prescott to have the best season of the three in just about every important category. Most importantly, a slight plurality of fans think Prescott and the Cowboys will win the most games. With 46 percent of the vote going for the Cowboys, 41 percent picked Wentz and the Indianapolis Colts and 12 percent selected Goff and the Detroit Lions. I know that doesn’t add up to 100 percent but we’re rounding down or up on those three numbers.

When talking about the quarterback play specifically, an even wider majority think Prescott will have the best season, even after his devastating broken ankle last year. A whopping 72 percent of fans think Prescott will score the most touchdowns (passing and rushing), followed by 18 percent for Wentz and just the 10 percent for Goff.

Even pure-passing is expected to favor Prescott, who was having himself one hell of a start to 2020 prior to the injury. A total of 61 percent of fans think Dak will have the best passer rating among the three, followed by 20 percent for Wentz and 19 percent for Goff. I think it’s fair to say that depending on what Detroit does in the offseason, Goff is clearly on the worst roster and in the worst situation for success.

By the way, the Seattle Seahawks have Wentz and Goff on the 2021 schedule. Seattle plays at Indianapolis but hosts Goff and the Lions.
