This is definitely a billboard-hit troll job.
The sweet music of a Dodgers World Series win is still ringing in the ears of their fans, and they arguably have no player to thank more than Mookie Betts. Betts was infamously shipped west last year to Los Angeles in a blockbuster deal that Boston is still crying into their chowder over.
So leave it to Dodgers fans to continue pouring salt in Red Sox fans' wounds — this time, by way of billboard.
MORE: Will there be MLB fans at games this season?
The billboard, posted by a Dodgers fan in junction with fan group Pantone 294, sits near Fenway Park and will easily overtake the Citgo sign as the most famous billboard in the Boston area.
Betts had another MVP-caliber season in the shortened 2020 campaign, amassing a 3.0 fWAR in just 55 games last year. He finished second in MVP voting behind Freddie Freeman of the Braves.
The Betts deal was widely (and rightfully) panned by fans and analysts alike; the Red Sox in return got outfielder Alex Verdugo and prospects Jeter Downs and Connor Wong. Pitcher David Price was also sent from the Red Sox to LA, but Price opted out of the 2020 season.
Betts signed a massive 12-year, $365 million contract extension with the Dodgers last year, so LA fans will have plenty of opportunities to remind Sawx fans of the trade in years to come.
