CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Preparing for hurricane season is important, but did you know that you need to prepare a safety checklist for your pets?
The Cape Coral Animal Shelter is reminding residents to make a plan for their four-legged friends this hurricane season.
Pet owners should complete a pet safety hurricane checklist as soon as possible since hurricane season has already begun.
Some items on the pet checklist include having five to seven days worth of non-perishable pet food, a two week supply of prescription medications and pet ID tags filled out with your contact information.
If you’re evacuating, it’s a good idea to figure out which hotels will allow pets.
