YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Job-seekers will have a chance to find their next career opportunity at the Explore the Valley Virtual Career Fair on June 16.
The free event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is a partnership of Youngstown State University’s Division of Workforce Education and Innovation, Jobs Ohio and the General Motors Community Investment.
“The Youngstown/Mahoning Valley region is making a major comeback with new industries centered around electric vehicles, energy storage and other industry 4.0 jobs like robotics, automation, information technology, advanced manufacturing and more,” said Jennifer Oddo, executive director of Workforce Education and Innovation at YSU. “Thousands of new-collar jobs are being created and YSU is leading the charge to bring the community together and attract talent to the area through this virtual career fair.”
Job-seekers and employers can register now and on the day of the event at YSU.edu/explorethevalley.com. Currently, employers scheduled to participate include Ultium Cells LLC, Cafaro, Lordstown Motors Corp., Mercy Health, L.B. Foster, Steward Healthcare, Respiratory Care Partners, Cintas, Southwoods Health, Valor, Schwebel’s, Aptiv, Windsor House, Vallourec Star, Community Corrections Association, Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC, Park Vista, Gillette Skilled Nursing Rehab, Youngstown Tool and Die, Briarfield Manor and ONE Health Ohio.
Event participants can connect with employers, gain exposure to in-demand career pathways, access little to no-cost training programs, apply for immediate job openings and be looped into the regional workforce conversation, Oddo said.
“It is the perfect place to discover your next opportunity, directly speak to employers, apply to open positions, learn more about incoming career pathways and new industries, add fresh in-demand skills to your resume through additional training, or credential into employment,” she said.
The inaugural Explore the Valley Virtual Career Fair was held in April and featured Ultium Cells as the lone employer. The event drew 585 registrants.
